Henry Darrow Dead at 87

 



Henry Darrow passed away on March 14, 2021. He was 87. Henry's career spanned sixty years. He will be best remembered as Manolio Montoya on the television western series The High Chaparral. The series five-year run made Darrow a household name and launched him into stardom. He would go on to appear in hundreds of TV series and films. Fans will also remember Henry as the loveable Don Alejandro de la Vega on the 1990s Family Channel series Zorro. His appearance opposite Duncan Regehr endeared him to millions of viewers around the globe. 


Henry's life was chronicled in the book Henry Darrow Lightning in the Bottle authored by Henry and his friend Jan Pippins. The book gives an intimate look at the life and career of the trailblazer Latino actor. 


Henry Darrow will be remembered as the only actor to hold the distinction of playing Zorro in three different Hollywood television series - The New Adventures of Zorro (1981), Zorro and Son (1983), and Zorro (1994) in the episode Like Father, Like Son. Henry also holds the distinction of being the only of play the father of Zorro in two different series: Zorro and Son (1983) and Zorro (1991-93). He is also the first Latino actor to play Zorro in a Hollywood production. 


Henry Darrow was an actor, beloved husband, and a dear friend to many. He was always gracious and more than generous with his time. He was funny, loveable, and kind. Adored and loved by thousands, he will be missed. But not forgotten. Goodbye, Henry. Thank you for bringing us so many smiles and great times and good memories over the many years.
