Zorro and Ana Maria Verdugo

One of the most popular story arcs of the Walt Disney Zorro series took place in Monterrey. There, Diego de la Vega is introduced to Ana Maria Verdugo and becomes smitten with the dark-eyed beauty. However, Ana Maria's affections are not for Diego. Her heart is set on marrying his alter ego, the charming and daring El Zorro. The young caballero was not to be detoured by this slight obsticle. For Diego loved Ana Maria so much that he planned to give up being Zorro. Only the intervention of his father, Don Alejandro, prevented him from revealing his identity and accepting the Governor’s offer of amnesty, which would have allowed him the freedom to marry her and live a normal life. Zorro’s choice to continue as an outlaw, protecting the people of California rather than marrying her, left her disappointed and heartbroken. Now, several months later, the masked protector of California and Ana Maria have another encounter. Will Zorro have a change of heart? Will sparks fly between them again? Or will their love die? Find out — when Zorro and Ana Maria meet in the pages of ZORRO Swordplay and Romance, the new book from Bold Venture Press. Writen by Daryl McCullough and illustrated by Nestor Taylor. *Pictures shown not in the book. On sale at Bold Venture Press and on Amazon
