Don Diego de la Vega, son of a wealthy landowner, returns to Alta California to find Los Angeles' citizens being crushed by oppression. Oppression from the money-hungry Alcalde Luis Ramon; oppression from the sadistic Capitán de Soto; oppression from the inept Sergeant Mendoza.
